Junior Chef Academy

"I followed my dream, my passion," is something that Chef Wan can say proudly nowadays as he traded a career in accountancy to being the most loved Malaysian celebrity chef with TV shows, demonstrations and books in line for his hungry crowd.

Following one's dreams definitely needs determination and guidance. Keeping that in mind, KDU College's School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts unveiled their Junior Chef Academy to expose young and enthusiastic individuals from 16-19 years old to the fascinating world of culinary arts.

 

Hong Kong Trip 2006

Seventeen enthusiastic BA (Hons) students from the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts, KDU College, jumped on the opportunity to travel to Hong Kong for their educational tourism trip, organized as part of their International Tourism module. The objective of the trip was to educate the students through effective learning, whereby they could explore and gather information on the geographical, cross cultural characteristics, tourism policy and development of Hong Kong.

Hot Cat Tour 2006

It was all excitement on Thursday morning (3rd August 2006) in KDU. Secondary school students were seen running all over the campus. "What was going on?" Well, the first ever Hot Cat Race - The Hospitality Race organized by the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (SHTCA) was held. The event was headed by Mr. Thomas Liebecke with the help of SHTCA lecturers and students in the SHTCA diploma programs.

SHTCA Food Festival 2006

The first ever Food Fest organized by the Grapevine Society in KDU's auditorium on 14th September 2006 was a roaring success, and dubbed "The Premier Event of the Year." The one day food fest saw strong participation from both SHTCA students and lecturers. All SHTCA students had to come up with their own mouthwatering menus and ingenious decorations for their individual stalls. The Premier Event was aimed at harnessing entrepreneurship and enhancing culinary skills among students apart from raising funds for the prom night.

These are words only scratch the surface in describing the SHTCA's Prom Night named "Heels and Ties." The young at heart and the evergreen strutted into Sheraton Subang looking both glamorous and sophisticated.
