It was all excitement on Thursday morning (3rd August 2006) in KDU. Secondary school students were seen running all over the campus. "What was going on?" Well, the first ever Hot Cat Race - The Hospitality Race organized by the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (SHTCA) was held. The event was headed by Mr. Thomas Liebecke with the help of SHTCA lecturers and students in the SHTCA diploma programs.

Starting as early as 7:30am, students with their respective teams registered themselves at the college. All sorts of creative and funky names such as Cincai, Walau Bear, Whatever were coined by each team.

After a briefing on the competition, the sizzling hot race began at 8:45am. 23 teams of students started scrambling all over the college to solve puzzles in venues like the auditorium, the Mock up room, the principal's office, and the staff rooms. The teams rushed from one game to another, racing against time and each other to avoid elimination. Surviving teams had to create a mocktail and one of the members from each team had to carry a bottle with a tray blindfolded through an obstacle course. With much anticipation, finally the first team who crossed the line was the Nekadians of SMK Subang Jaya. They took home the challenge trophy and RM1000 cash. The second prize went to the team Diamond Village from SMK Taman S.E.A. The third prize was taken home by Coyotito, again, from SMK Subang Jaya.

All in all, even those who did not win enjoyed their day at KDU as they were treated to a buffet lunch at Connexions.
