Achtung and Attention*
For the first time ever the French-German language week is about to hit KDU college!
It will be a week of presentations, fierce competition, foreign movies and European culinary delights. Running from the 15th to the 18th of March 2010, all the action will center around the newly renovated Auditorium.
And we want you to join in, participate, and take home fame and glorious prizes!
Here is, how you can do that:
PowerPoint Competition
- Come alone or join up with another students (max two per team).
- Put together a presentation about anything related to French or German, France or Germany.
- Presentations should run for about five to ten minutes.
- They can be in English (of course, we'd be happy if you throw in some things in the foreign language as well).
- You will be evaluated by a panel of judges on clarity/structure, language, non verbal elements, and usage of visual aids.
Short Film Competition
- Get creative and submit a short film, that somehow relates to the foreign language
- It does not have to be entirely in French/German! (But again, it would be nice if there was some of the foreign language in it.)
- Teams can be of maximum four people (of course, you can involve more of your friends, but cannot win more than four prizes).
- Films should be around three minutes long and must be submitted no later than 12th of March 2010 on CD or DVD!
- Please, use a proper video camera and edit your clips (nothing straight from your mobile phone). If you need assistance, please come and see your respective language lecturers!
- Films will be evaluated by our judges mostly on creativity, but to a lesser degree also on technical perfection.
Karaoke Battle
- Demonstrate your singing talent with French and German songs.
- You'll be directly competing against an opponent on the same song.
- Each winner will be awarded a point.
- You will be judged on your singing, language and performance.
- Those with most points will be the overall winners: one in the French segment, one in the German segment.
- There is a given set of five songs to prepare for, so please register as early as you can!
All competitions are open to KDU students, also those who are not registered for any French or German class, even those who never took these subjects. Please come and register with Mr. Alan, Mr. Bruno or Mr. Thomas respectively!
